Our Mission
Our Vision
Our Commitment
We are dedicated to advocating for safer roads by addressing the systemic issues that lead to increased injuries and fatalities in our communities. Our mission is to promote stronger enforcement of traffic laws, improve urban planning, and raise the standards for commercial vehicle regulation. We are committed to pushing for accountability across all levels of government and ensuring that road safety becomes a priority in every decision made.
We envision a future where our roads are safe for all, and where urban development and transportation planning take into account the well-being of residents. A future where all municipalities and regions work together to address road safety challenges, ensuring that infrastructure supports the safety of all road users, and that regulatory measures are transparent and enforced fairly.
Our goal is to ensure that road safety is treated as a critical issue by all levels of government. We are committed to advocating for meaningful change by pushing for stronger enforcement, responsible urban planning, and transparent, accountable regulations. Through collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and a shared commitment to safety, we aim to protect all road users and build safer communities for future generations.
Our Priorities
Join Us in Making Our Roads Safer!
Enforcing Existing Laws
-
It is essential that existing traffic laws are enforced effectively, especially regarding the safety of commercial vehicles on our roads. This requires urgent attention to increasing police presence in key areas to ensure compliance and protect the public.
Urban Planning & Land Development
-
Municipalities and regions must pause any new land development that contributes to increased truck traffic until road safety in the local area can be improved, based on concrete data. Additionally, neighboring municipalities must collaborate and communicate when planning developments near municipal borders to prevent uncoordinated growth that negatively impacts road safety.
Improving Oversight & Inspections
-
The province, in partnership with municipalities and regions, should work to increase staffing at existing Ministry of Transportation (MTO) inspection stations, add new locations in key areas, and expand mobile and surprise enforcement efforts. These measures will improve compliance and reduce risks posed by unsafe commercial vehicles on our roads.
Addressing Illegal Land Use
-
Local governments must use all available tools to discourage illegal land use, which often occurs near municipal borders to exploit enforcement gaps. This rampant issue makes enforcement difficult and creates unsafe conditions for nearby communities.
Strengthening Trucking Regulations
-
We call for the Ministry of Transportation to immediately take back control of truck driver training and licensing. This includes instituting an apprenticeship program that truck drivers must complete before being allowed to drive independently. We believe this is essential to ensure that all drivers are properly trained and licensed.
Collaboration for Road Safety
-
We advocate for regular (monthly) Road Safety Meetings, where municipalities and regions, along with all relevant stakeholders—including provincial and neighboring municipalities, road safety experts, law enforcement, fire and medical services, and residents—can collaborate to address road safety issues proactively.
