Words from Ayesha Faruq:

"Little history of our Misery.

We Brampton residents have been through a long and frustrating battle with these illegal truck yards located at the northeast corner of Mayfield Rd and Airport Rd, especially given the environmental and safety concerns.

This struggle has been ongoing since 2020. Despite our legal victory on January 18, 2023, it’s incredibly concerning that Falcon has started allowing trucks back on the property after vacating. The lack of enforcement and delayed action from Caledon authorities clearly undermines the progress we have fought for—still no accountability. This case was the first precedent-setting case.

My daughter, Fatima and my friend, Dev Gosal were instrumental in this process. They were witnesses and provided affidavits in court against Falcon, contributing crucial evidence that led to our victory. Fatima has also given many delegations, advocating tirelessly for our cause. Furthermore, we have Joanna Valeriani who we met in Nov 2023 and has been guiding us since then with her knowledge of the legal and political landscape, supporting our efforts.

Now, we have taken action by delegating the Town of Caledon on September 24, 2024, with Bolton residents standing beside us. Hopefully, this will put more pressure on officials to take decisive action. We are not just fighting for safety on the roads but also ensuring that illegal operations like Falcon and the other 200 illegal properties don’t continue to evade accountability.

After years of this challenge, the Toronto Star has finally posted about our struggle, shining a light on this ongoing issue. This is just the first step. We still have a lot to do, but the hardest part is starting.

Thank you for joining our cause and let’s keep the momentum going.”
